Bio
Serrati returned to Italy in 1911 after periods of socialist activity abroad and became a member of the Socialist Party leadership. He took over the editorship of Avanti! in 1914 and participated in the Zimmerwald and Kiental antiwar conferences. After the Russian revolution he supported affiliation to the Third International while leading the party’s maximalist current. His 1920 letter in L’Ordine Nuovo disputed Terracini’s portrayal of his position on councils and party action. In 1924 he joined the Communist Party with the left wing of the Socialist Party.
