Bio
Zinoviev collaborated closely with Lenin during exile and represented the Bolshevik current at the Zimmerwald movement’s conferences. Returning to Russia in 1917, he became president of the Petrograd Soviet and in 1919 headed the Communist International executive committee. His report reproduced in L’Ordine Nuovo examines party direction, trade-union reconstruction and the relationship between mass organizations and Soviet power. After Lenin’s death he participated in the struggle over party leadership, was marginalized by Stalin and was executed following the first major Moscow trial in 1936.
