- Bio
- Brailsford campaigned for women’s suffrage and opposed wartime nationalism. During the First World War he advocated a negotiated settlement and international organization. He toured postwar Europe in 1919 and criticized the effects of the peace settlement. In 1922 he became editor of the Independent Labour Party’s New Leader, which combined political and cultural writing. His contribution reprinted in L’Ordine Nuovo in July 1919 compares parliamentary government with recallable soviet representation.
