Bio
Jaurès combined parliamentary socialism with journalism and work toward socialist unity, helping establish the SFIO in 1905. In the years before 1914 he campaigned against war and connected national defense with a citizen militia in L’Armée nouvelle. He defended workers’ causes while seeking international action to prevent European conflict. He was assassinated in Paris on 31 July 1914; the texts printed in L’Ordine Nuovo in 1919 are posthumous selections.
