- Bio
- Lucien Dieudonné wrote as Lucien Jean while working for the Paris municipal administration. He participated in literary and anarchist circles and contributed to several journals, founding the short-lived Aujourd’hui in 1901. Friends collected his writings as Parmi les hommes in 1910 after his death. L’Ordine Nuovo introduced him in 1919 as a proletarian writer whose relation to work and culture mattered more than an industrial occupation or party label.

- The accompanying Italian introduction explicitly identifies the pseudonym. Its author and the translator of Un uomo nel fosso remain unknown. Evidence of anarchist-circle participation does not establish formal membership or a council mandate.
