Bio
Eastman edited The Masses until its closure in 1917 and launched The Liberator with Crystal Eastman in 1918. His radical journalism combined socialist politics, literature, and support for women’s suffrage. The first three indexed issues of L’Ordine Nuovo serialize his study of Lenin. He traveled to Russia in 1922 and subsequently translated works by Trotsky and acted as his American literary agent.
