Bio
Togliatti began writing for the socialist press during the war and helped establish L’Ordine Nuovo in 1919. His early contributions included reviews, followed by political journalism supporting the factory councils and affiliation to the Communist International. He joined the Communist Party of Italy at its foundation in 1921 and entered its central committee in 1922. Arrests and clandestine organizational work marked his activity during the following years.

Other Notes
The 6 September 1919 Cronache names Tasca and Togliatti as close editorial collaborators and states that both are now free of military service and can be identified publicly; no exact discharge date is given. Issue I.28 names him in the proposed propaganda-school program for economics and socialism, capitalism, economic councils, and schooling. This announcement does not by itself establish that the lessons took place.
