- Bio
- Biryukov was a writer, publisher and advocate of Tolstoy’s ideas who lived intermittently abroad from 1898. His major biography of Tolstoy appeared in four volumes in 1922–1923. At the Geneva students’ congress of December 1919, he discussed Soviet education through Krupskaya’s writings and comparative experiments in school self-government. His L’Ordine Nuovo contribution explicitly limits its claims about implementation to a short stay in Moscow, acknowledging partial failures.
