Bio
Snowden belonged to the antiwar wing of the British labour movement during the First World War. His first parliamentary period ended in 1918, so the 1919 contribution does not come from a sitting MP. In the Labour Leader passage reprinted here, he rejects earlier confidence in Wilson and attacks the proposed peace settlement. He returned to Parliament in 1922 and became Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Labour government of 1924.
