Bio
Lenin opposed the First World War as an imperialist conflict and returned to Russia during the revolutions of 1917. He led the Bolsheviks into power and headed the Soviet government through the civil war. In 1919 he helped establish the Communist International while defending proletarian dictatorship against socialist critics. His writings on the state, class power and revolution circulated in translation in L’Ordine Nuovo.

Other Notes
Nicola is the contemporary Italian printed form, not his birth name. Heading a Soviet government is not treated here as proof of election as a factory-council delegate.
