Bio
Zini combined philosophical teaching and writing with socialist activity in Turin. During the war he collaborated with Il grido del popolo under Gramsci and increasingly engaged with Marxism. In 1919–1920 he wrote for L’Ordine Nuovo and helped organize socialist education, later directing the Institute of Proletarian Culture. A Fascist assault in December 1922 preceded his withdrawal from active politics.

Other Notes
Il congresso dei morti was serialized in 1919; its literary setting is distinct from a historical political congress. Issue I.28 names him in the proposed propaganda-school program for economic determinism, the Communist Manifesto and justice, as well as the inaugural Da cittadino a produttore address announced for 30 November. This announcement does not by itself establish that the lessons took place.
